Age group: G4-G7
In the Automatic Robot Control Course, students begin to touch more different kinds of input and output electronic modules and learn to perform multiple tasks for a robot. At this stage, we continue to use the hardware equipment of the dedicated interface, and the master controller can connect 12 modules to complete control of multiple motors and sensors. By connecting data cables or wireless modules, we can also implement the robot's wired or wireless remote control. The increase in the number and functionality of hardware means that students can design robots with certain complex behavior capabilities. In the early stages of this course, we still use modular programming, but add more functional modules, such as various loops, condition ingress, and debugging. In the advanced phase, students try to program in code. At the same time, the upgrading of hardware and software, but also let students can achieve more underlying hardware drive control.
VEXcode is the official programming platform created by VEX, which can accomplish the software development process of all robotics platforms VEX has to offer. VEXcode VR also provides a complete set of virtual development and testing environments, which solves the limitations imposed upon individual users in terms of materials and venues. The latest release supports one of the most popular development software, Python, further increasing the value of the programming language. Based on the latest version of VEXcode VR, we designed an automatic control robot course, in which we will lead students into the ever-changing virtual world. Students will learn how to control various devices using robots to complete established tasks. Though a virtual device, it resembles to the real one, maintaining identical control method and programming language to ensure a seamless transition between virtual and in-person. At the same time, the multi-angle view function provided by the virtual space can also help students build and cultivate the ability to understand and visualize the three-dimensional space.
VEXcode VR's unique code reading function (Code Viewer) can convert graphics programs to Python code with one click, which enables students to quickly grasp the basic knowledge of python programming intuitively while allowing high-level students the ability to directly use Python text mode to program. Python is a widely used high-level programming language. Not only is the code syntax concise and readable, but it also has a rich and powerful library. It does not need to deal with class path problems like Java or compiler problems like C++. In addition, Python is easy to learn and widely used. Web development, data science, machine learning, crawlers, operation and maintenance, artificial intelligence these all can be said and done plus more.
